The World Missions Committee introduces  our most recent missionary, Jonni Sliver.  Jonni was commissioned at this year Annual Conference.  She has begun deputation and visiting churches.

Jonni is a longtime member of Emmaus Lutheran Church (AFLC), Bloomington, MN.  She is a graduate of Bethany Fellowship School of Missions and has served in Brazil from 1988 to 2004. 

Because of health problems it was apparent that Jonni’s mother could no longer live alone.  Therefore, Jonni came home to care for her mother in 2004.  Last May Jonni’s mother went home to be with the Lord which freed Jonni to return to Brazil.

Jonni will serve at the Miriam Infant home and our Bible school and seminary in Brazil. 

Prayer Concerns:

Pray for God's direction for my deputation; for open doors to serve in AFLC churches and that God would bless with strong ties with the congregations I will be serving this summer and fall.

Pray for God's grace before the Brazilian government, for a long term visa to be approved.

Pray for language learning - I speak Portuguese but have a strong accent and have been not speaking the language for 6 years.

Pray for strong bonds to be built with the staff and students in Campo Mourao and for us to discover together my place on the team.

Pray for clear and creative communication between the AFLC family in Campo Mourao and in the U.S. for mutual support and encouragement.
